INSIDE THE SELECTED SHAPE

CAGED letters name movable shapes, not the key. Colored tones stay in the same places when you switch between relative major and minor; their chord roles change.

Supported Music & Limits

Standard E–A–D–G–B–E six-string guitar, one voice; chords, rests, dotted rhythms, tuplets, swing, repeats and alternate endings. Capo frets are converted to positions measured from the nut. Choose the original tonic yourself: key signatures can be ambiguous.

Alternate tunings, extra strings, multiple voices, ties, bends, slides, harmonics, grace notes, dead notes, tremolo picking, fermatas, strummed timing and tempo changes are rejected with an explanation. Some articulation effects use plain synthesized notes. No backing tracks or Guitar Pro instrument sounds are included.

Up to 10 saved exercises stay in this browser on this device; private browsing, clearing browser data or changing devices may lose them. Keep your original files. Transposition preserves strings within frets 0–24; keys that cannot fit are blocked. Minor exercises follow the relative-minor key selector.

How to use Practice

BPM counts quarter notes; choose eighths or sixteenths in Options for faster notes. Practice tempo is independent of the standalone metronome. Select shapes below and strings above. Click a tab note to start there. Choose Loop From Bar and To Bar to repeat an inclusive range. Bars are numbered in playback order, including repeats; Source identifies the original file bar. Generated exercises group notes using the meter and subdivision, with short groups marked Partial. Chord names describe recognizable simultaneous notes; ambiguous combinations are left unnamed. Bar View switches measure boxes on or off without changing the music. Inactive Notes controls other fretboard notes during playback or note preview; 0% hides them. A rest fades all notes, Pause keeps the current preview, and Restart restores normal visibility.
